A new way to identify newborns


Swap of newborns today is much less common than several dozen years ago. It's safe to say that it doesn't happen almost at all. The risk has been naturally minimized to almost zero. How? During birth, a woman is more and more often accompanied by a child's father, mother, friend, doula - persons who accompany the child's first measurements and in the bath. The child also receives two bracelets with the mother's name. Despite this, for fear of changing a newborn baby during delivery, a Spanish system was invented in Spanish maternity hospitals to counteract theft or swap of infants. Its use in the delivery room is to protect against theft and swapping of children.

Researchers from Spain have managed to develop a device that collects fingerprints of mother and child and combines them, storing them in memory. It also uses a radio system that allows you to locate the place of occurrence of the mother, child and doctor responsible for taking care of the newborn. It is enough for a child to be moved by a wrong person to trigger an alarm. This results in automatic locking of the door and even of the elevator, which makes it impossible to leave the hospital with the child.

The prototype device and system developed by the Spaniards are already interested in maternity hospitals around the world today.
